What I love about Piedmont Park is that it gives families so many different looks without needing to travel all over the city. You can have moments that feel classic and timeless, while still creating images that feel natural, relaxed, and connected.
When I’m planning a family session, I’m not just looking for a pretty background. I’m thinking about how the location will support your family, your kids, your outfits, and the overall feeling you want your photos to have.
If you’re looking for Atlanta family photos that feel natural, joyful, and true to your family, Piedmont Park is a beautiful place to start.

One of the reasons I love Piedmont Park for family sessions is the variety.
A family session doesn’t have to feel like standing in one spot smiling at the camera. The best images usually happen when your family is moving, interacting, laughing, and simply enjoying being together.
Piedmont Park gives us room to create that.
You have:
That variety allows your gallery to feel like a full story instead of a collection of the same image repeated over and over.
If you love photos that feel bright, soft, and timeless, Piedmont Park works beautifully.
The open areas of the park allow for beautiful natural light, especially during golden hour when the sun is softer and creates that warm glow families often love.
For this style, I usually recommend thinking about outfits that feel comfortable and timeless:
The goal is for your family to stand out- not the outfits or the background.

One of my favorite things about Piedmont Park is that it doesn’t require your family to be “perfect” in front of the camera.
Kids can walk, explore, play, and interact with you. Those small moments are usually where the magic happens.
A hug from your child.
A laugh you didn’t plan.
Walking together holding hands.
Those are the images that usually become the favorites because they actually feel like your family.

For the most flattering light, I typically recommend planning sessions around golden hour.
This gives us:
Timing also helps create a calmer experience because we can work with the environment instead of fighting the light.
Your outfits and your location should work together.
Because Piedmont Park has a mix of greenery, open spaces, and city elements, a lot of styles photograph beautifully here.
Some ideas:
For a light and airy look:
For a more classic Atlanta look:
For a more elevated look:
The biggest thing is choosing clothing that lets you move and feel comfortable.
